About Me

Summary:

Hi, I'm Sophia! I'm a recent graduate from the University of Rochester with a B.S. in Audio and Music Engineering and a minor in Studio Art! I value creativity and hard work, and I approach challenges with a commitment to giving my best effort.

During college, I developed a foundation in audio electronics, signal processing, acoustics, and music production. I was also awarded a scholarship that funded an additional year of study. During that fifth year, I expanded my skills through coursework in architecture, photography, advertising, and UX design, broadening my perspective on both design and problem solving.

Work experience:

I gained industry experience through a DSP/Algorithms internship at HP Inc./Poly, where I contributed to the process of headset development. I created an audio chain in MATLAB/Simulink that allowed for real time evaluation of headset code and sped up the testing and evaluation process by 2-3 weeks each time new code was tested.

I also have experience working as a music tech assistant. There, I live streamed concerts in the University of Rochester’s Strong Auditorium for campus music groups and worked with a team to set up and tear down chairs, amps, microphones, risers, and other equipment for concerts and rehersals.

Relavant course work:

• Musical Acoustics, Acoustics Portfolio, Designing the Recording Studio

• Circuits and Signals, Audio Electronics

• Signals, Audio Signal Processing, Audio Software Design I/II

• Art and Tech of Recording, Critical Listening for Audio Production, Sound Design

Hobbies:

Outside of classes, I spend a lot of my free time working on art and music projects. I regularly sketch and paint and particularly enjoy painting outside. I also like to write songs and play music with my friends!
